Hyundai Creta led the pack, selling 15,924 units. Despite a 5% decrease from the previous year’s 16,762 units, it remains a leading SUV in the segment, reflecting its sustained popularity.
Tata Nexon put up a good fight, with 14,004 units sold in August 2025. This represents a solid 14% increase compared to the 12,280 units sold in August 2024, reflecting the car’s continued popularity. However, Maruti Suzuki Brezza experienced a significant 29% decline in sales, with 13,620 units sold, down from 19,190 units the previous August. Maruti Suzuki Fronx held steady, with 12,422 units sold, almost matching the 12,387 units from the prior year, remaining a consistent performer for Maruti in the compact crossover category. The Mahindra Scorpio saw a 29% drop in sales, selling 9,840 units compared to 13,787 units the year before. Tata Punch experienced the most substantial decline, with sales down 32% to 10,704 units from 15,643 units in August 2024, facing tougher competition.
Toyota’s hybrid vehicles had a notable sales increase of 39%, selling 9,100 units compared to 6,534 the previous year, highlighting Toyota’s growing success in the hybrid market. Hyundai Venue sold 8,109 units, an 11% decrease compared to 9,085 units the year before, though it maintains its presence as a strong contender in the compact SUV segment. Kia Sonet experienced a 23% decrease, with sales falling to 7,741 units compared to 10,073 units.
The Mahindra Thar showed significant growth, with sales up 64% to 6,997 units this August from 4,268 units the previous year, which reflects the increasing consumer interest in the vehicle.
