A SpiceJet passenger on a Mumbai-Bengaluru flight found themselves unexpectedly confined to the aircraft’s lavatory for the entire journey. The airline has since offered an apology and compensation for the unusual experience. The passenger was ‘rescued’ upon landing in Bengaluru, with the assistance of ground staff and engineers who managed to unlock the jammed door.
The incident unfolded on a delayed Monday night flight. The passenger, who had been in seat 14D, found themselves trapped shortly after takeoff when the lavatory door malfunctioned. Despite attempts by the crew to open the door, the lock remained stuck.
The crew then resorted to slipping a handwritten note under the door, reassuring the passenger and advising them to stay put until the plane landed. This note, shared on social media, quickly gained traction, eliciting amusement and comments from users. The flight finally touched down in Bengaluru at around 3:45 AM, and the door was subsequently opened. SpiceJet has expressed regret for the incident and offered an apology to the affected passenger.
