A SpiceJet passenger found themselves unexpectedly confined to the aircraft’s lavatory for the entirety of a flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru. After the restroom door locked mid-flight due to a malfunction, the passenger was unable to exit. Despite attempts by the flight crew to unlock the door, it remained jammed. The crew then penned a note to the passenger, delivered through the door’s gap, assuring them and requesting they remain seated until arrival. The delayed flight, which departed Mumbai two hours behind schedule, culminated in the passenger’s ‘rescue’ by ground staff who were able to open the door upon landing. The airline has issued an apology and offered a refund.
