Maruti Suzuki Leads ‘Make in India’: Production and Sales Figures Highlight Dominance

Maruti Suzuki, a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor, is a key player in the Indian automotive market, producing more cars in India than in Japan. In 2024, Suzuki’s global production reached approximately 3.3 million units. Out of this, over 2 million cars were manufactured in India, significantly exceeding the 1 million produced in Japan. Furthermore, Suzuki’s global sales are also heavily reliant on the Indian market, with the highest sales figures recorded in India, followed by Japan and other countries. This indicates that almost every Maruti Suzuki car sold in India is produced locally, with surplus production being exported.
