A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru turned into an unusual ordeal for one passenger. The individual was stuck inside the aircraft’s restroom throughout the entire flight. The airline has since offered an apology and is said to be providing a ticket refund. The incident has generated considerable interest and amusement.
The passenger was eventually released after the aircraft touched down in Bengaluru. The airport’s ground staff and engineers intervened promptly to unlock the faulty toilet door, which had jammed mid-flight.
The incident reportedly occurred on a Monday night. The Mumbai-Bengaluru flight, which was delayed by two hours, departed from Mumbai at 2:10 AM, though it was scheduled for 10:55 PM. A passenger seated in seat 14D, entered the lavatory soon after take-off and became trapped.
Efforts by the passenger and the crew to open the door were unsuccessful. The crew then crafted a handwritten note and passed it to the passenger via the gap in the door. The note advised the passenger not to panic and to remain seated until the aircraft landed in Bengaluru.
The crew’s note and images of the situation were quickly shared online, attracting significant attention. The incident sparked a flurry of amusing comments from social media users, some of whom also complimented the handwriting.
The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. Engineers subsequently opened the door. SpiceJet issued a statement expressing regret and apologizing to the passenger for the experience.
