A bizarre situation unfolded on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru when a passenger became trapped inside the airplane’s restroom for the entire journey. The airline has issued an apology and reportedly offered a refund, but the incident has become a source of online amusement.
The passenger was finally rescued upon the flight’s arrival in Bengaluru, with ground staff and engineers successfully opening the jammed toilet door.
The incident took place on Monday night. The Mumbai-Bengaluru flight experienced a delay, eventually taking off from Mumbai Airport at 2:10 AM, well after its scheduled 10:55 PM departure.
A passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom shortly after takeoff and was unable to exit due to a malfunctioning lock, leading to an unusual mid-air problem. Despite attempts by the crew, the door remained stuck.
The crew then devised a plan to comfort the passenger, slipping a handwritten note under the door with the instructions to remain calm and stay seated until landing in Bengaluru. The note, subsequently shared on social media, gained significant attention, with many users finding it amusing and commenting on the handwriting.
The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. Soon after landing, the lavatory door was opened by airport engineers. The airline has expressed its regret and apologized to the passenger.
