Tata Motors has announced a strategic plan to introduce seven new vehicles in the Indian market, aiming to challenge Maruti Suzuki’s market position. The upcoming models will include a mix of petrol, diesel, electric, and hybrid vehicles, all priced within the ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh range.
Focusing on the sub-4 meter SUV segment, Tata plans to launch the Punch facelift, the new Scarlet, and the next-generation Nexon, directly competing with Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx and Brezza, which currently hold a strong position among the top-selling models.
**Tata Punch Facelift: Key Features**
The 2025 Punch facelift will adopt design cues from the Punch EV, featuring slim headlamps, updated bumpers, a new LED DRL pattern, and new alloy wheels. Interior upgrades will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel design similar to the Altroz. Touch controls are also expected. The facelift is likely to retain the existing engine options, including the 86bhp 1.2L petrol engine and the 73.4bhp CNG engine.
**Tata Scarlet: Design and Powertrain Options**
The upcoming Tata Scarlet, a compact SUV with a boxy silhouette, draws inspiration from the Sierra model. Built on a monocoque platform, it will offer petrol, diesel, and electric powertrain options. Engine details are yet to be confirmed, but possibilities include the Nexon’s 120bhp 1.2L turbo petrol, the Curvv’s 125bhp 1.2L TGDi petrol, or a new 1.5L petrol engine. An electric variant is also under consideration.
**Next-Generation Tata Nexon: Expected Launch and Features**
The next-generation Tata Nexon, planned for a 2027 launch, will be based on an updated version of the current X1 architecture. This new model is expected to feature significant design enhancements and updated features. While petrol and CNG engine options will likely continue, the diesel engine may be discontinued due to the implementation of BS7 emission standards.
