A new affordable electric scooter from TVS is coming to India. The company, having trademarked the name ‘Orbiter,’ is now preparing to unveil the production model. The launch date for the TVS Orbiter is set for August 28th in India. The scooter will be positioned below the existing TVS iQube, which has been a successful model for the company.
Currently, the iQube is available starting at around ₹1 lakh, with higher-end models reaching ₹1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The Orbiter, designed to be more budget-friendly, will likely be priced under ₹1 lakh, making it the entry-level electric scooter from TVS. This move positions it to compete with models like the Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1 X upon release.
The launch is strategically timed to capitalize on the Indian festive season. This period is typically a peak time for auto sales in India. TVS anticipates increased sales due to the launch of this new electric scooter.
The design suggests a premium product, and TVS has filed a patent for a new electric scooter in Indonesia. The sketches show a sleek design with large wheels and a swingarm-mounted motor. It includes features like LED daytime running lights, square LED headlights, LED tail lights, a visor, a two-tone paint scheme, and front disc brakes. While the name hasn’t been officially revealed by TVS, this patent hints towards this new model.
