The Volkswagen Taigun is slated for a mid-life refresh, according to recent reports. This will be the first significant update since its launch in September 2021. The facelift, expected to be released in 2026, will incorporate design modifications and cosmetic enhancements, positioning it to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Kia Seltos in the Indian SUV market.
The Taigun facelift will likely continue with the existing powertrain options. This includes the 1.0-liter TSI engine, offered with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. Additionally, a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine, delivering 147 hp and 250 Nm of torque, will be available.
The front fascia of the updated Taigun will feature a new grille design and LED lighting setup. Spy shots suggest that the facelift will adopt Volkswagen’s latest design philosophy, reminiscent of the Taigun R-Line. At the rear, expect redesigned tail lamps and other stylistic upgrades.
While the front and rear will see notable changes, the side profile is anticipated to remain largely unchanged. This includes retaining elements such as body-colored door handles, roof rails, and blacked-out B-pillars.
Inside, the Taigun facelift is expected to echo the Tiguan R-Line’s design with similar dashboard layouts, interior aesthetics, and screen configurations. The facelift might also incorporate ADAS features to compete with rivals such as Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, and Kia Sonet.
