NITI Aayog and JICA took a bold step forward in Indo-Japanese cooperation by signing the ROD for Phase II of their SDG-focused project on Monday. This initiative zeroes in on aspirational districts and blocks, promising accelerated development in India’s toughest terrains.
The ceremony featured Rohit Kumar, Additional Secretary at NITI Aayog, and Takeuchi Takuro, JICA India’s head. It cements the enduring India-Japan development bond, intensifying collaborative pushes for SDG attainment in priority backward areas.
Kumar highlighted the potent mix of organizational prowess, exchanged insights, and real-world application to spur inclusive advancement. Aligned with ADP and ABP, the project tackles six domains: international alliances, health-nutrition, schooling, farming-water, finance-skills, and basic infrastructure.
Priorities include capacity upliftment, superior tracking-evaluation, and SDG integration locally. Planned actions involve cross-cultural exchanges, empowerment sessions, Japan-India forums, best methods exchange, and focused support to ADs/ABs.
Takeuchi applauded the world-leading quality of India’s district-block oversight and called the project a symbiotic boost to ties. This agreement heralds a era of heightened efficacy in development, directly benefiting underserved populations and reinforcing global SDG commitments through proven bilateral synergy.
