Wrapping the trading week on a subdued note, Indian markets opened lower Friday, tracking uneven global trends. Sensex dropped sharply to 81,883.76, down 364.85 points or 0.44%, from 82,220.48 open. Nifty mirrored at 25,377.50, off 119.05 points or 0.47% from 25,459.85.
Nifty sectors mostly bled, barring IT’s 0.81% gain. Auto (-0.84%), FMCG (-0.99%), Bank (-0.53%) led declines; midcaps -0.41%, smallcaps -0.51%.
Sensex movers: IT trio-session rally with Infosys, Trent, Tech Mahindra, Eternal, HCL Tech, TCS gaining. Big falls in Maruti, HUL, Ultratech, M&M, Airtel, ITC, Asian Paints, Kotak.
Akash Shah (Choice Broking): Yesterday’s swings – Nifty high 25,572.95, low 25,400, close 25,496.55 (+14). Directionless; resist 25,600+, support 25,300. RSI neutral. FIIs sold Rs 3,465cr, DIIs bought Rs5k+cr.
Strategy: Discipline key in volatility; fundamentals first, long above 25,800 Nifty for confirmation.
