Diplomatic momentum surged in New Delhi as PM Narendra Modi and Seychelles’ President Dr. Patrick Herminie concluded a meaningful bilateral huddle on Monday. Modi hailed the session’s success and spotlighted Seychelles’ prominence in India’s ‘Ocean Vision’ framework.
Posting on X with meeting visuals, Modi reflected on the opportune timing: ‘Seychelles celebrates 50 years of sovereignty alongside 50 years of India-Seychelles camaraderie. United by history and destiny, Seychelles stands as a trusted maritime neighbor in our Ocean Vision.’
Talks encompassed a broad spectrum of cooperation, emphasizing people-driven initiatives that secure the Western Indian Ocean. Modi congratulated Herminie on his electoral mandate from late 2025.
The President appreciated India’s enduring contributions to Seychelles’ progress and regional harmony. Both sides vowed to intensify high-level interactions and collaborative ventures.
Highlighting commitment, India rolled out a $175 million special aid envelope for priority areas including housing schemes, health infrastructure, defense partnerships, e-mobility rollout, and bolstered maritime security.
In joint remarks to the press, Modi portrayed the relationship as inherently historic and cultural, far surpassing diplomatic formalities. This engagement exemplifies India’s sagacious approach to Indian Ocean dynamics, fostering enduring peace and shared growth.
