  • BJP will launch Parivartan Yatra in Chhattisgarh also, when and from which cities will it start?

In view of the upcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the main opposition BJP has decided to take out Parivartan Yatra in the state. This yatra will cover a distance of 2,989 kilometers in 87 assembly constituencies. This yatra will be started from two different places in the state from September 12 and September 16, Dantewada (South Chhattisgarh) and Jashpur (North Chhattisgarh).

BJP state unit president Arun Sao told a press conference here that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will flag off the first Parivartan Yatra after taking the blessings of Maa Danteshwari during a public rally in Dantewada on September 12. He said that this 16-day yatra will cover a distance of 1,728 kilometers in 21 districts.

Sao told that BJP National President JP Nadda will flag off the second Parivartan Yatra in Jashpur on September 16. He said the yatra will cover a distance of 1,261 kilometers in 12 days in Bilaspur and Surguja divisions of the state. He said that under both the yatras, there will be 84 public meetings, 85 welcome meetings and seven road shows. This yatra will end in Bilaspur after covering a distance of 2,989 kilometers in 87 assembly constituencies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the concluding ceremony of the yatra. Asked why three assembly constituencies have been kept out as there are a total of 90 assembly seats in the state, Sao said Bijapur, Sukma and Antagarh constituencies (all three Maoist-affected) have not been included in the yatra, but when If the Yatra passes through the surrounding constituencies, people from all three constituencies will participate in it.

He said that the BJP will highlight the failures of the Bhupesh Baghel government during the ‘yatra being undertaken to oust the Congress regime’ from the state. Senior leaders of the Center and the state will participate in the yatra. He said senior leaders of the state would attend both the visits for two days each.

After being in power in Chhattisgarh for 15 years (2003-2018) under the leadership of Raman Singh, the BJP faced a massive defeat at the hands of the Congress in the 2018 assembly elections. The party is now trying to return to power. The BJP had last month released its first list of candidates for the 21 seats where it had lost to the Congress in 2018.

The election schedule for the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly has not been announced yet. In the 2018 assembly elections, Congress won 68 out of total 90 seats, while BJP came second by winning 15 seats. Janata Congress Chhattisgarh-Jogi won five seats and its ally Bahujan Samaj Party won two seats. Congress currently has 71 seats.

  • New faces on 40 seats, tension due to discussion of changing 18 seating MLAs; What is Congress’ plan to win again in Chhattisgarh?

Minister Ravindra Choubey’s statement has given sleepless nights to veteran leaders who had dreamed of contesting elections on Congress ticket in Chhattisgarh. Even after the Congress wave in 2018, the party will not give tickets to those who lose the elections. Under the Udaipur formula, Congress is going to gamble on youth and women. The news of many sitting MLAs being denied tickets has increased the tension of the leaders. Congress can give opportunity to new faces on about 40 seats in Chhattisgarh. This has also been agreed upon in the meeting of senior leaders.

Congress party has decided the formula for giving tickets to the candidates. The party will not give tickets again to the candidates who lost in 2018. Not only this, the party has also decided that the stake will be played on only those leaders who can bring victory, meaning the old face will not work. In the 2018 assembly elections, Congress had to face defeat on 22 out of 90 seats. Now it has been decided that Congress is going to bet on new faces on 22 seats.

Report of 18 MLAs weak in survey

Political sources say that Congress had decided on its candidates, but the top leadership had conducted a survey and the report of 18 MLAs was weak. After this the leaders have again brainstormed regarding the ticket. There is also news that this time Congress is cutting the tickets of many sitting MLAs. It is almost certain that the tickets of those leaders whose report has been bad in the Congress survey will be cut. If we look at the figures of 22 new faces and 18 MLAs with bad reports, this figure reaches 40. Overall, this time new faces can be seen on 40 out of 90 seats.

First place in the list doesn’t matter

On the first list of Congress candidates, Minister Ravindra Choubey said that coming first in the list does not matter. After the release of BJP’s first list, infighting is visible. Congress Core Committee meeting has taken place. Short listing of applications has been finalized. Some seats have one to two panels and most seats have a single name final. The committee will sit once again and then the list will be finalised. New faces and youth will get a chance this time.

Four major committees of Congress were formed

Ravindra Choubey, minister in Bhupesh Baghel government, told the media that assembly elections are near. The code of conduct will be imposed after the final publication of the voter list. The top leadership of Congress has formed four major committees for the elections in Chhattisgarh. Assembly Speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant has been given the responsibility in the election campaign committee. The most important is the core group committee, which will be headed by in-charge Selja. Minister Choubey said that Congress is fully prepared to defeat its opponents in the elections.
