  • Sitapur murder case: Tribal youth was murdered in ‘Drishyam’ style, absconding main accused contractor arrested

    Ramkumar Yadav, Surguja. Surguja Police has taken major action in the murder case of Sandeep Lakra, the famous tribal youth of Sitapur, Chhattisgarh. The young man was murdered in the style of the movie Drishyam. The main accused contractor Abhishek Pandey was absconding after the incident, who was arrested by the police today when he reached the court to surrender.

    Let us tell you that the deceased tribal youth Sandeep Lakra, living in village Beljora of Sitapur police station area, was missing for three months. The family members had lodged a complaint in the police station, fearing murder. A case was registered after protests by the tribal community. During investigation, the police came to know that the body of Sandeep Lakra was buried under a water tank in village Luraina of Mainpat. Police had recovered the body from 15 feet below by collapsing the water tank.

    So far eight accused have been arrested in this case and sent to jail. The main accused Abhishek Pandey was absconding after the incident. IG had announced a reward of Rs 30 thousand, SP Rs 10 thousand and Sarv Adivasi Samaj had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh on him. Today the main accused Abhishek had reached the court to surrender and was arrested by the police.

    Inspector, Sub Inspector and a constable were suspended by IG

    In this case, due to allegations of blackmailing by the police and continuous protest by the tribal society, IG Surguja has taken suspension action against the inspector, sub-inspector and a constable. The society’s protest continued demanding the arrest of the main accused contractor.

    The government has given a job to the wife of the deceased

    Talks were held between Health Minister Shyambihari Jaiswal, the victim’s family and all tribal communities. Health Minister Shyambihari Jaiswal had participated in the talks as the CM’s representative. During this time, the Health Minister had given free education to the children of the deceased till higher secondary school and a job appointment letter to the wife of the deceased in the form of a contract. Also, a compensation of Rs 25 lakh was announced from the CM head. After this the society ended the movement and the last rites of Sandeep Lakra took place 22 days later.

This accident happened when four friends studying in medical college had gone to take a bath in the river.     Police team was also present on the spot and investigation is going on. It is being told that since it was Sunday holiday, the students of the medical college had gone to take bath in the river. There is an atmosphere of mourning among Ishu Chandrakar’s family and friends due to his demise. The deceased student has been identified as Ishu Chandrakar, resident of Kawardha. At present, the police has sent the body for post-mortem.
