    Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police have arrested contractor Abhishek Suryavanshi, Rituraj, Rahul, Sameer and Nagesh. Under the new BNSS law, the police took action under Section 170. At the same time, out of 52 CCTV cameras installed in Sims Hospital, more than 47 are faulty.

    Purushottam Patra, Gariaband. Chhattisgarh State Rural Bank management on Monday sealed the residence of Chhura District President Tokeshwari Manjhi located at Amamapara.     In the case, the bank management informed that Tokeshwari Manjhi and her husband Kadam Manjhi had taken a home loan of 20 lakhs on 6 August 2019, but by 14 December, the total liability for the said amount including interest of 2 lakh 76 thousand had become 22 lakh seventy six thousand. The outstanding amount was not paid on time. After the hearing, following the order passed by District Magistrate Deepak Agarwal, the bank management took action to seal the house located in Aamapara on Monday.

    On discussing this matter with Chhura Tehsildar Ramesh Mehta, he told that the Gariaband Collector has seized the house and given physical possession to the bank. The matter is of loan, the person concerned had taken loan from the bank and did not return the money. During this, regional manager Harvinder Singh, Amber Gupta, Pradeep Gehrwal BM were present.

During the hearing of the case, the division bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice BD Guru expressed strong displeasure over the behavior of the DEO and called it indecent and condemnable.

    The incident took place on 4 September 2024, when the girl students went to meet the DEO demanding the appointment of teachers. On this, the DEO threatened them and said that they would go to jail. This incident happened a day before Teachers’ Day, when the girl students were only demanding the appointment of teachers in their school. The behavior of the DEO in response to this legitimate demand of the girl students was widely covered in the print and electronic media.

    The High Court took up the matter as a public interest litigation and has scheduled the next hearing of the case on September 12. The court has issued notices to the School Education Secretary, Director School Education, Collector Rajnandgaon and DEO and sought their response. The court has also asked the government what steps have been taken to appoint teachers in schools where there is a shortage of teachers.

    The police registered a case under crime number 147/2024 and after tracking down the accused, arrested 4 accused (Vinod Kumar Jain, Vinay Kumar Jain, Upkar Jain and Daulat Singh) from Rajasthan. The other accused, Shivkrishna Gurjar and Omprakash Bhadana, are still absconding. The police brought all the accused to Pakhanjur on transit remand and produced them in the court.
