6 EEs suspended for negligence in the works of Jal Jeevan Mission, 4 issued notices, Deputy CM Saw said- negligence in the works of Jal Jeevan Mission will not be tolerated

Raipur. CM Vishnudev Sai today held a review meeting of the works of Jal Jeevan Mission. During this, after instructions to take action against negligent officers, today the Public Health Engineering Department has suspended six executive engineers. Also, show cause notices have been issued to the executive engineers of four districts. After the approval of Deputy Chief Minister and Public Health Engineering Minister Arun Saw, the department has taken major action and today the ministry has issued orders for the suspension of six executive engineers and show cause notices to four executive engineers.

The Public Health Engineering Department of the State Government has considered the negligence and erroneous reporting in the works of Jal Jeevan Mission as serious negligence and indiscipline and has suspended Jagdalpur Executive Engineer Jagdish Kumar, Bilaspur Executive Engineer U.K. Rathia, Baikunthpur Executive Engineer Chandrabadan Singh, Bemetara Executive Engineer R.K. Dhananjay, Ambikapur Executive Engineer S.P. Mandavi and Sukma Executive Engineer J.L. Mahala with immediate effect. Meanwhile, show cause notices have been issued to Durg Executive Engineer Utkarsh Pandey, Balod Executive Engineer Sukrant Sahu, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur Executive Engineer S.S. Paikra and Sarangarh-Bilaigarh Executive Engineer Kamal Kanwar.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, while reviewing the works of Jal Jeevan Mission a few days ago, had called it an ambitious scheme of the state and central government and had instructed the officials to work seriously and complete the set targets on time. He had asked to complete the ongoing works of Jal Jeevan Mission as soon as possible. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw also expressed displeasure over the works of the mission and had instructed the officials to ensure that 100% of the houses in as many villages get tap water. He said that negligence in the works of Jal Jeevan Mission will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against officials who give careless and erroneous reporting.

After suspension by the state government, Executive Engineer Jagdish Kumar’s headquarters have been fixed as Superintending Engineer Office Kondagaon, U.K. Rathia’s headquarters as Superintending Engineer Office Raipur, Chandrabadan Singh’s headquarters as Superintending Engineer Office Surguja, R.K. Dhananjay’s headquarters as Superintending Engineer Office Durg, S.P. Mandavi’s headquarters as Superintending Engineer Office Bilaspur and J.L. Mahala’s headquarters as Superintending Engineer Office Jagdalpur. As per rules, they will be paid subsistence allowance during the suspension period. The Public Health Engineering Department has directed the four Executive Engineers who have been served show cause notices to submit their counter statement within 15 days of receiving the notice. If the counter statement is not received within the stipulated time, it will be understood that the concerned Executive Engineers have nothing to say in this regard. Thereafter, unilateral action will be taken by the government.
