Bijapur: Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur police has achieved a big success against the theft of tendu leaves on Monday. They have caught a truck full of stolen tendu leaves going from Bijapur to Rajnandgaon. The state government has to suffer losses worth crores due to theft and hoarding of tendu leaves in large quantities, but today the government has been saved from losing lakhs of rupees due to the action taken by the police administration. At present, the process of finding out the price of the seized tendu leaves is going on and the police has started getting to the bottom of the matter.

According to sources, Tendu patta contractors were carrying out this theft in connivance with the department and have already stolen thousands of bags of Tendu patta and deposited them in the godowns of Bijapur, Rajnandgaon and other places. After the intervention of journalists, Bijapur SDM, Tehsildar, RTO and Forest Department officials together have started immediate action in the theft case.

According to the information, the contractor of the large quantity of tendu leaves caught is said to be Pankaj Jain. Along with this, allegations are being made that the contractor was stealing tendu leaves from Maddeed area with the help of departmental connivance.

In this case, the contractor says that I have paid everyone. I am not bringing any stolen goods. I have managed everyone, I will get the vehicle and the seized tendu leaves released.

Bijapur SDM Jageshwar Kaushal has assured strict action in this matter. Investigation is being done.
