On Saturday, Kotwali police arrested two interstate smugglers with a huge quantity of ganja on the road on the city bypass. Of the two smugglers caught, one is from Orissa and the other from Gujarat. The police caught both of them when they were standing near the road and waiting for the bus.
Let us tell you that the police has recovered 40 kg 700 grams of ganja from the possession of both the accused, the value of which is said to be Rs 3 lakh 20 thousand. Police said that in view of the Lok Sabha elections, with the aim of ensuring smooth and peaceful completion of the election process, information was received from an informer on Friday as part of the campaign being run against anti-social elements and people involved in the sale of illegal ganja, liquor and intoxicants. Two persons are waiting for the bus with ganja on the main road near Rajnandgaon bypass. After which the police reached the spot, laid siege and arrested both of them.
When the police personnel searched the bags kept by both of them, a huge quantity of ganja was recovered from them. According to the information, the name of one of these accused caught by the police is Ramesh Sethi, father of Natwar Sethi, who is a resident of Ganjam, Odisha and the other is Ruchita Kumar God, a resident of Surat, Gujarat. Police have arrested both the accused and sent them to jail on judicial remand.
