Raipur. According to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 30 lakh is being sanctioned to the family of martyred CRPF constable Devendra Kumar, employed in election work in Bastar Lok Sabha constituency, as per Chhattisgarh State Compensation Rules. Meanwhile, CRPF Assistant Commandant Manu HC, who was injured during election duty, is being sanctioned an ex-gratia amount of Rs 15 lakh.
Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale said that as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, in case of death or injury to officers, employees and security forces personnel employed for election work during election duty, ex-gratia will be given as per Chhattisgarh State Compensation Rules. Approval is granted. During the voting in Bastar Lok Sabha constituency today, the process of approval of ex-gratia compensation payment amount for martyred and injured soldiers is being taken as per rules.
It is noteworthy that during the voting in Bastar Lok Sabha constituency today, constable Devendra Kumar of D/196 company of CRPF, posted on outer cardon duty at polling station Galgam under Usoor police station area of Bijapur district, was hit by IED blast during area domination outside the campus. He was seriously injured after coming inside. After first aid, he died while being brought to Raipur by air ambulance for better treatment.
In Bijapur, E Company of 62nd battalion of CRPF had gone out for area domination in view of the voting. During area domination, an IED blast took place in Chihka area under Bhairamgarh police station area. CRPF Assistant Commandant Manu HC got injured after being hit by a pressure IED. After first aid, he was brought to Raipur by air ambulance for better treatment.
