Chhattisgarh’s rice exporters will receive a waiver on mandi tax.

This decision by the Chhattisgarh government encourages the rice industry.

Raipur, / Following the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to provide a complete waiver on mandi tax and farmer welfare tax to rice exporters to encourage the rice industry in Chhattisgarh and boost the export of non-basmati rice from the state. This waiver will be given to exporters who export non-basmati rice made from paddy procured through the state’s rice millers and mandis. The purpose of the tax waiver is to promote the export of non-basmati rice from Chhattisgarh and provide greater benefits to the state’s farmers and rice millers. This government decision will help make Chhattisgarh’s rice industry more competitive in national and international markets.

The notification regarding the waiver of mandi tax and farmer welfare cess by the Chhattisgarh government has been issued for publication in the gazette. This waiver will be valid for one year from the date of publication of the notification. To avail of the waiver on both these taxes, rice exporters will have to ensure that the origin of the rice cargo is mentioned as Chhattisgarh in their shipping bill. In addition, a copy of the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax details, loading bill, and bank reconciliation statement will have to be submitted to the relevant mandi. Registered rice exporters and rice millers of the state will have to submit a declaration clearly stating that the rice has been produced from paddy purchased from Chhattisgarh. Rice millers will have to issue permits to rice exporters under the Mandi Act.
