Central Agriculture Ministry Says Golden Chapter of Farming Begins in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, April 27, 2025/ The central government has praised the cultivation of sunflower in Chhattisgarh, including in the districts of Sakti and Kondagaon. The Union Ministry of Agriculture has said on its social media handle X that sunflower cultivation in Chhattisgarh is the beginning of a new golden chapter.

Inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream of a self-reliant India, farmers like Ramayan Manyavar of Ghuichunwa village in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh are adopting alternative crops like sunflowers.

Under the efforts of the Chhattisgarh government, these farmers are increasing their income, reducing dependence on water, and increasing crop productivity by moving beyond traditional farming. By cultivating sunflowers, which thrive in Rabi, Kharif and summer seasons, farmers are earning maximum profits while contributing to the national goals of strengthening the rural economy.

Prime Minister Modi’s call to diversify agriculture and promote indigenous methods is helping farmers move towards sustainable, high-yielding farming, making India’s agricultural sector stronger and more self-reliant.

Similarly, the first successful cultivation of the KBSH-78 variety of sunflower is being celebrated in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh. Its blooming flowers signal new opportunities for farmers and the future of agriculture in the state.
