    Instructions Given to Quickly Identify and Repair Damaged Roads Using AI and New Technologies

    95% of Civil and Electrical Engineering Work Completed in New Legislative Assembly Building

    Raipur, April 22, 2025 / Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai reviewed the works of the Public Works Department today. He instructed the departmental officers in the review meeting held at the Ministry (Mahanadi Bhawan) to complete the work of roads, bridges, culverts and buildings within the timeframe with good quality by working swiftly. He emphasized fast and safe traffic on national highways and major roads. He directed the use of AI and new technologies for rapid identification and repair of damaged roads. Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Sao and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Singh also attended the review meeting.

    Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, in the meeting, directed that the work of roads and bridges should be completed expeditiously keeping in mind the five-year action plan. He said that the work of roads and large bridges should be completed compulsorily in one and a half to two years after land acquisition. He directed that expressways should be developed by constructing a sufficient number of overbridges and underbridges in the bypasses and ring roads being built near the cities. This will make traffic faster and safer. Chief Minister Shri Sai directed to build good quality connecting roads to connect Raipur-Jagdalpur National Highway with the expressway being built to connect Raipur to Visakhapatnam under the Bharatmala project, so that maximum benefit of this expressway can be available to the people of the state.

    Reviewing the progress of national highways under construction in the state, the Chief Minister directed to nominate one dedicated senior officer for all major and important projects. He asked to work in better coordination with NHAI to speed up the work. He asked to work with the target of completing road development works worth Rs 30 thousand crore in the next three years. He directed to prioritize the works provided in the new budget and start the work soon by completing their estimate, DPR and tender proceedings. Shri Sai also asked to create an effective system for maintenance and repair of bridges and culverts. He asked to prepare the necessary protocol for this and strictly follow it. He asked to create a system for immediate identification of damaged roads by using AI and new technologies. This will help in maintaining roads and in quick repair. He emphasized on strengthening the roads in mining areas.

    Chief Minister Shri Sai directed to expedite the work of roads and bridges under construction there to strengthen the road network in Bastar. Construction of new roads and bridges will help the people of remote forest areas to join the mainstream of development. In the review meeting, he directed the departmental officers to upgrade circuit houses and rest houses as per the needs and lifestyle of the present time. He asked to improve cleanliness and other arrangements along with their good maintenance.

    In the review meeting, the officers of the Public Works Department informed that 95 percent of the civil and electrical engineering work of the new building of the Legislative Assembly under construction in Naya Raipur has been completed. 60 percent work of the new Raj Bhavan has also been completed. The officers informed that a provision of Rs 106 crore has been made for road safety works in the current financial year. To prevent road accidents, work on black-spot and junction improvement will be done on priority in the next five-six months. Secretary of Public Works Department Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretaries to Chief Minister Shri Rahul Bhagat and Shri Mukesh Bansal, Engineer-in-Chief of Public Works Department Shri V.K. Bhatpahari and Joint Secretary Shri S.N. Srivastava along with all the Chief Engineers were also present in the review meeting.
