Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. The High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the issue of electric current in the fields in the villages of Ratanpur area. The court has made a strong remark that the state government cannot escape its responsibility by merely giving license to any company. In this case, the High Court has asked the central government to reply with an affidavit.
Chief Justice Ramesh Kumar Sinha has started hearing the DB PIL. The case will be heard again on July 10. There are 8-10 villages in the district where there is danger from high tension electricity wires. Due to more than 20 towers in these villages, current is flowing on the ground. The division bench of the Chief Justice of the High Court took the case seriously and while hearing it, made the state government, Power Grid Company, Jabalpur Transmission Company and electricity department officials parties and issued notices and sought answers.
After the hearing, the Chief Justice directed the government company Power Grid Corporation, which laid the high tension wires, and the Jabalpur Transportation Company, which completed this work, to send engineers to these places and conduct a thorough investigation.
