Farmers troubled by power cut surrounded the Collectorate, warned of violent agitation if the problem is not resolved.

Hakimuddin Nasir, Mahasamund. About 80 percent of the population of the district has been doing farming. The farmers here cultivate paddy in both seasons, Kharif and Rabi. Paddy requires more water for Rabi. Due to lack of river and dam for irrigation in Khallari assembly, most of the people do Rabi season farming by relying on bore, but the people of the area are troubled due to low-voltage and power cuts.

Since last 10-15 days, farmers and students are troubled due to low voltage and unannounced power cuts in nearly a dozen villages of Khallari assembly constituency. Farmers have complained about this to the top officials of the electricity department, but till now the farmers have not got relief.

Today, the farmers of Khallari Assembly took out a rally from Baronda Chowk and reached the Collectorate, where they surrounded the Collectorate office and submitted a memorandum to the Collector explaining their problems. Farmers said that if the problem of power cut and low voltage is not resolved soon, there will be further aggressive agitation.
