Tukeshwar Lodhi, Arang. Once again the news of Lalluram.com has had a big impact. During the deepening of Andhiyar Khop pond of Arang, an ancient and rare statue of Jain Tirthankar was found. Jain community had demanded to keep this statue in Arang itself. Now this statue will be installed in Arang itself. This has been announced by Culture Minister Brijmohan Aggarwal.

At Raja Mordhwaj Arang Mahotsav, Minister Brijmohan Aggarwal said, the ancient Jain idol found in Arang will remain in Arang. He announced Rs 25 lakh to build a museum in Arang. Also announced Rs 5 lakh annually for Raja Mordhwaj Mahotsav.

In fact, two years ago in September 2021, during the deepening of Andhiyar Khop pond of Arang, a statue resembling an ancient and rare Jain Tirthankara was found. It has been preserved in the Bhanddeval temple by the Archaeological Survey of India. Recently, the Jain community of Dongargarh had demanded the administration to take away this idol, on which the then collector of Raipur Sarveshwar Bhure issued an order to hand over the idol to the Jain community of Dongargarh, but the information about the order was not given to the local people of Arang. There was opposition to the Collector’s order ever since it took place.

Local residents of Arang alleged that the ancient and rare idol found in the pond was being given to the Jain Trust of Rajnandgaon outside Arang due to administrative pressure. Many social organizations had also written a letter to the concerned department opposing this order.

People said that Arang is recognized because of the ancient statues, remains and historical heritage here. If this ancient idol goes away from here, then any society will demand the same and take away many idols from here. It is unfair to take away cultural heritage without the consent of the citizens. Ultimately, due to the opposition of the city residents, Culture Minister Brijmohan Aggarwal has announced to keep the ancient and rare Jain Tirthankar statue found during the deepening of the pond in the Arang itself.
