Bilaspur. Inter-state ganja smuggler was caught in surprise checking by Ratanpur police. The smuggler was carrying ganja from Odisha to Rajasthan in a car. During search, a consignment of about one quintal ganja was seized from the four-wheeler, which is said to be worth 20 lakhs.
In fact, the team of Police Station Incharge Rajneesh Singh of Ratanpur police station was checking vehicles by putting up barricades near the Gaurela Pendra Road forest barrier. Meanwhile, a white Swift car number HR 51 AM 8554 from another state was seen coming from Bilaspur Road. On seeing the police, the driver accelerated the vehicle and started running towards Gaurela Pendra Road. The police chased and stopped the car by surrounding it. On questioning and searching the car driver, 23 packets of narcotic substance Ganja, totaling 101 kg, wrapped in khaki colour tape were found in the car. The car driver told that he was taking it from Odisha to Rajasthan.
Action has been taken under the NDPS Act as the car driver failed to present any documents. The police seized the white Swift car used in the incident, three mobiles and ganja. Police said that the name of the accused is Rajesh Sharma, father Somdas Sharma, age 38 years, resident of Dhirajpura Khetri, police station Mohana, district Nimka, Rajasthan.
