Raipur. In the last phase of Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh, voting is to be held on 7 seats including Raipur on 7th May. Due to the elections, Raipur Police has taken swift action and made arrests in accordance with the code of conduct.
Let us tell you, due to Lok Sabha elections, the code of conduct is in force in the state from March 16. During this period, since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, Raipur Police has served 3997 permanent/arrest warrants, taken restrictive action against 6544 people, seized 4723 liters of illicit liquor and Rs 1 crore 71 lakh in cash, including a total of Rs 2 crore 77 lakh.

Raipur Police has taken action under Arms Act against 125 accused, out of which sharp knives were seized from the possession of 122 accused and fire arms were seized from the possession of 03 accused. Out of a total of 1,838 arms license holders, 1,549 arms were deposited and the remaining 244 people were given exemption due to their deployment in the security of special institutions. Apart from this, along with taking action against a total of 6,544 accused under various restrictive sections 107, 108, 109, 110, 151, 116(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, out of bounds action has also been taken against 923 accused.
Jail for long time absconding accused
During the Code of Conduct, the police, while running a special campaign, served 3 thousand 997 permanent/arrest warrants including long pending 3127 permanent warrants and 870 arrest warrants and presented the warrants in the court. Along with this, the accused who were absconding for a long time were also sent to jail.
Large amount of cash seized
Capital Police seized a total of Rs 1 crore 71 lakh 55 thousand 780 in cash and handed it over to the committee constituted by the Income Tax Department and Election Commission for further action. In the Excise Act cases, action was taken against the accused by seizing 4,723 liters of liquor worth Rs 19 lakh 50 thousand 620 from those accused of illegally transporting/storing or selling liquor in different police station areas.
Large quantity of drugs including silver seized
During the Code of Conduct, Raipur Police took action against the accused in Narcotics Act cases by seizing narcotics worth Rs 50,93,818/-. Apart from this, action was taken by seizing the items kept for illegal distribution including silver worth Rs. 33,01,400/-. In this way, till now the Capital Police has seized Mashrooka worth Rs 2,77,22,793/- from the code of conduct.
Let us tell you that all types of vehicles and suspicious persons are being continuously checked by 24 Flying Squad teams and 25 SST in the district.
