Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Inaugurates Solar-Powered E-Rickshaw and Battery Swapping Station
Raipur, April 6, 2025 // Increased use of renewable energy will lead to a clean, safe future. Electricity is the greatest need of today, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, new goals have been set in the field of renewable energy in the country, and work is progressing rapidly to achieve them. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai addressed the program today after inaugurating and performing the groundbreaking of various development works worth over ₹50 crores in the field of renewable energy at the CREDA office complex in Raipur, the state capital. During this, he also inaugurated a solar-powered battery swapping station and a normal e-rickshaw converted to solar energy.
Addressing the program, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai extended his best wishes to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami. He said that today, on this auspicious occasion, major works have been started in the field of renewable energy. Considering the damage to the environment from traditional fuel sources, the use of solar and renewable energy can bring about a big change. He said that many solar energy-related schemes are being run in the state, and with their effective implementation, the common people and farmers of the state are getting great benefits. Also, in Naxal-affected areas, the work of supplying electricity is being completed through the Niyad Nella Nar Yojana, and villages in remote areas are being illuminated by it. He said that the solar-powered e-rickshaw has been inaugurated today, and this initiative will make the operation of e-rickshaws economical and increase the income of e-rickshaw drivers.
Shri Sai said that the government’s goal is that the state should get not half but free electricity, and the government is making efforts in this direction. He described the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme as an ambitious scheme of the central government and said that with the aim of benefiting more and more poor families in the state, the state government has also made a provision in the budget to provide subsidies. The Chief Minister informed that investment proposals of more than ₹3 lakh crores have been received in the energy sector and said that this will bring about a revolutionary change in the energy sector and we will be able to easily meet the needs of the future.
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh, said that the whole world is adopting renewable energy for a clean environment. He said that now the use of fossil fuels will gradually decrease and in the coming times, it will be replaced by renewable energy. Dr. Singh conveyed his best wishes for the inauguration and groundbreaking of works worth over ₹50 crores related to renewable energy and described it as a major initiative towards clean energy.
Groundbreaking and Inauguration of Works Worth Over ₹50 Crores Related to Renewable Energy
Today, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of works worth over ₹50 crores related to renewable energy in Raipur, the state capital.
The works inaugurated include a solar-powered battery swapping station in Raipur at a cost of ₹29 lakhs, conversion of normal e-rickshaws to solar e-rickshaws, and the establishment of 54 solar high masts, 152 solar dual pumps, and two solar power plants under the Niyad Nellannar scheme.
Similarly, the works for which the groundbreaking was performed include the establishment of solar-powered battery swapping stations in the energy education parks of Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, and Jagdalpur, making all energy education parks in the state net zero, and the renovation of the energy education park in Rajnandgaon.
Also included is the establishment of two solar high masts and one community biogas plant as per the Chief Minister’s announcement in district Balod, the establishment of 50 solar high mast plants in tourist places of 23 villages as per the Chief Minister’s announcement in district Baloda Bazar, solar electrification of sub-health centers in district Korba, the establishment of a 500 kW capacity on-grid solar power plant at Hirri Dolomite mine in district Bilaspur, solar electrification of ashrams/hostels in district Korba, and the establishment of 280 kW capacity on-grid and 2.4 kW capacity off-grid solar in village Kunjara, district Jashpur.
