At the same time, the road from Gaurela to Amarkantak in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district has been washed away in the rain. Due to this, the road from Chhattisgarh to Madhya Pradesh has been closed, due to which traffic has been halted for the last 14 hours.
Due to heavy rains in the hilly areas, the road near Chuktipani in Jwaleshwar Ghat in Pendra has been washed away. The bridge built as an alternative over the drain has also been washed away. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Kanker, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Kabirdham, Bemetara and a yellow alert for Dhamtari, Gariaband, Kondagaon, Narayanpur and Rajnandgaon today.
According to the information received from the state level control room set up by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department of the state government, an average rainfall of 248.5 mm has been recorded in the state since June 1, 2024. According to the rainfall recorded in various districts of the state from June 01, 2024 till today morning 15 July, the highest average rainfall of 410.7 mm has been recorded in Bijapur district and the lowest average rainfall of 135.3 mm has been recorded in Surguja district.
