Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. The Chhattisgarh High Court has granted bail to Madhur Sahu, accused of the murder of Salma Sultana, a famous Korba murder case. After hearing all the parties, the High Court granted bail as the evidence presented against the accused was not sufficient. In fact, the lawyer of the accused Madhur Sahu said in the court that his applicant Madhur Sahu was falsely implicated in the crime. He says that Korba police also filed a DNA test report along with the charge sheet. In which only 1 STR out of 13 is matching.
Let us tell you that as per the requirement, there should be 13 STRs for matching in the matching DNA test, it cannot be said in the above facts of the sample and the case that the skeleton recovered is of the alleged deceased Salma. After hearing this argument, the court has granted bail. However, the victim’s side is not satisfied with this decision of the court and can appeal in the court against the bail of the accused.

In 2018, anchor Salma Sultan, a resident of Kusmunda area of Korba, mysteriously disappeared. Two months later, her family filed a missing person report at the Kusmunda police station, but despite all the efforts of the police, no trace of Salma was found. Five years passed and Salma’s mystery remained.
Meanwhile, the police got information that Salma was in a love affair with her friend and gym owner Madhur Sahu, who lives in Bilaspur. The police also came to know that Madhur came from Bilaspur and ran a gym in Korba and he met Salma there.
When the police interrogated Madhur’s maid, she revealed the whole matter. She told that Salma was murdered in 2018, in which Madhur and some of his associates were involved. The police detained the suspects and after strict interrogation they confessed to killing Salma and burying her body near the Bhavani temple on the Korba-Darri road.
After the murder, the main accused Madhur had absconded. The accused who were caught in June told that a four-lane road has been built at the place where Salma was buried. The police got the excavation done after taking permission from the court and took out the skeleton from there, which was sent for DNA testing.
Meanwhile, Madhur fled from Korba to Delhi for fear of getting caught. Meanwhile, he needed a SIM and some money and for this he wanted to come to Korba. He contacted one of his acquaintances and reached Korba on the morning of 14 August 2023. As soon as IPS Robinson Gudiya got information about this, he along with the police team caught the accused.
