Rajnandgaon. The Kotwali police has achieved success in catching illegal liquor. The smugglers were taking liquor manufactured in Madhya Pradesh from Betul in Madhya Pradesh to Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh by car. The police have arrested one accused in the case.
Actually, the police had received information that alcohol was being smuggled in a Skoda car from Betul in Madhya Pradesh to Rajnandgaon via Jagdalpur. On receiving the information, the police surrounded the vehicle near Kanharpuri bypass and caught it, in which the police recovered 22 boxes of English liquor.
Regarding the case, Rajnandgaon CSP Pushpendra Nayak said that accused Sheikh Amir, a resident of Pendri, Rajnandgaon, who was smuggling liquor from Betul in Madhya Pradesh to Jagdalpur, has been arrested. During police interrogation, the accused told that he was taking the liquor from Betul in Madhya Pradesh to Jagdalpur, which is being investigated. The value of 22 boxes of English liquor manufactured in Madhya Pradesh has been estimated at Rs 1 lakh 26 thousand 500.
