Raipur. The Chhattisgarh government has recently approved a new surrender and victim’s rehabilitation policy, under which the victims of Maoist violence will be compensated to the families of those killed with the help of security forces in land and anti -Naxal operations.
According to a senior police official, ‘Chhattisgarh Naxalite surrendering/victim relief-individual policy 2025’ aims to provide better compensation, free education, health services and job opportunities to the affected people of Naxalite violence.
Also, Naxalites who surrender will be given legal assistance to rehabilitate and start a new life. In addition, the policy also provides that unmarried Naxalites or whose spouses are no longer alive, they will get a grant of one lakh rupees for marriage within three years of surrender.
This policy recently approved by the Council of Ministers also provides for providing residential land in agricultural land in rural areas or residential land in urban areas in rural areas. Its main objective is to assist people affected by Naxal violence and re -incorporate the Naxalites who surrender in the society.
According to officials, the government believes that it is necessary to maintain a balance between strict action and rehabilitation to end Naxalism.
Under the new policy, the compensation amount has been increased from Rs five lakh to Rs 10 lakh on the death of informers who provide special assistance of the police in anti -Naxal operations. Also, the compensation amount has been increased from three lakh rupees to five lakh rupees in cases of permanent disability in Naxal violence.
If someone is given murder, serious injury or permanent disability by Naxalites, then the affected person or his family will be given 1.5 hectares of agricultural land or 1,742 square feet of residential land in urban areas. If the land is not available, financial assistance of four lakh rupees will be provided in rural areas and eight lakh rupees in urban areas.
If the victim’s family buys agricultural land within three years of the incident, then he will get a complete discount in stamp duty and registration fee on maximum two acres of land.
In cases of losing life in Naxal violence, if the victim’s family does not get a government job, then they will be given assistance of Rs 15 lakh (husband/wife and children Rs 10 lakh, while parents Rs five lakh).
In the new policy, arrangements have also been made to rehabilitate people suffering from Naxalite violence. In addition, if a person or family outside the state is made a victim of Naxalite violence, then they will also be eligible to get benefits under this policy.
