A scheme of approximately ₹75 crore, benefiting 15,000 families
The Agamdham-Khandwa multi-village water supply scheme will provide clean drinking water to over 15,000 families in 50 villages of the Simga development block. Water will be drawn from the Chakravay Anicut built in Tora village on the Shivnath River and supplied to every household through taps via water tanks constructed in each village. About 40 percent of the work on this scheme, costing approximately ₹75 crore, has been completed. The aim is to complete the scheme by June this year.
Quality checked by climbing the water tank, feedback on water supply taken from women
The Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Arun Saw, also inspected the single-village water supply scheme in Saddu in the Tilda development block of Raipur district. He climbed the water tank to check the quality of construction. He also checked the flow of water from the taps in the houses of the village. Shri Saw also discussed with the Sarpanch, Panches, other villagers, and women to get feedback on water supply. Villagers said that sufficient water is coming from the taps both in the morning and evening. Under the existing tap water scheme in Saddu, 212 houses had been given tap connections. After the construction of a second water tank in the village under the Jal Jeevan Mission, tap connections have been given to 292 more houses. A total of 504 tap connections are now available in the village. Two water sources have been established here to fill the tanks.
During his discussion with the villagers, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Saw said that the taps installed in each house, the water tanks installed in the village, and the water sources are yours. You people have to use, maintain, and protect them. After the completion of the scheme, the operation of the tap water scheme will also be done by the Gram Panchayats.
