Not even 24 hours have passed since the incident of 23 children falling ill after eating mid-day meal at Peepal Khunta Middle School in Mainpur of the district, that now the news of children falling ill after eating Poha in the Anganwadi center of the district has come to the fore. One of the children who fell ill is still undergoing treatment at the hospital in Devbhog. Meanwhile, terrified parents have stopped sending their children to Anganwadi centers. Case of food poisoning: More than 25 children are registered in Anganwadi Centre No. 3 in Supebeda, but only 3 used to come. The helper fed poha to the three children who came on 3rd September at 10 am. By 11 am, the health of the children started deteriorating. Seeing the condition of the children, after first aid at Supebeda hospital, they were taken to a hospital in Dharmagarh, Odisha.
After recovering, the children were brought home on 4 September, but late at night, two and a half year old Hem Priya’s health deteriorated again, and she is being treated at Devbhog Hospital. Devbhog BMO Dr. Prakash Sahu said that Hem Priya has been admitted and is being given proper treatment. The girl has high fever. After initial treatment, her blood will also be tested.
Children stopped coming to the center
Villager Trilochan Sonwani said that Anganwadi centres have been left to God’s mercy. There is no one to monitor them. Most of the children have not been coming to Centre 3 for months, but food expenses of all are being shown. Despite this, they are not able to handle even three-four children. Since the incident of September 3, not even a single child is going to the centre. In-charge project officer Deepa Shah said that after getting information about the case, appropriate action will be taken.
