Guddu Dhanoa’s ’23rd March 1931 Shaheed’ offers a compelling take on Bhagat Singh’s story, distinct from Raj Kumar Santoshi’s. The film’s second half uses dramatic elements, while the courtroom scenes and jail sequences can seem exaggerated. The film’s strength lies in its visual storytelling, capturing the era through vivid imagery and emotionally resonant scenes. Bobby Deol’s Bhagat Singh is portrayed effectively. Sunny Deol, as Chandrashekhar Azad, leaves a mark, although the brothers lack connection. Sunny Deol revealed his disappointment when Raj Kumar Santoshi began working on his own Bhagat Singh biopic. Sunny Deol expressed confidence in their project, believing in its historical accuracy. After seeing the trailers, everyone felt Bobby and their film are closer to history. Sunny Deol left it to the audience to decide. Despite facing obstacles, including a fire on set, the crew’s resolve led to the film’s completion.
