Director Akarsh Khurana attempts a difficult feat in ‘Karwaan’: finding humor in the face of mortality. The film, while not perfect in its pacing, avoids being offensive. The plot sometimes relies on unnecessary diversions to keep the story going. Dulquer’s Avinash embodies a stereotypical office worker who dreams of escaping his job to pursue photography. The film’s themes are reminiscent of ‘Kodachrome,’ with its road trip narrative. The character of Irrfan’s Shaukat provides a unique viewpoint. His ability to inject humor into the narrative elevates the experience. Memorable moments include his interactions with other characters and his appreciation for classic Hindi film songs. Despite its shortcomings, ‘Karwaan’ offers a heartwarming exploration of its themes. It’s a journey filled with empathy for its characters, making it an enjoyable, if occasionally meandering, road trip.
