*Meesha*, directed by Emcy Joseph in Malayalam, is a film that promises a rich and layered experience, similar to the structure of Japanese dolls. Unfortunately, as the film unfolds, the layers fail to reveal anything significant, leaving viewers disappointed. The film’s main narrative, centered on two friends from different castes, Midhun and Anandhu, and their involvement with a nefarious politician, lacks originality. This prompts the introduction of Shine Tom Chacko, who plays a hunter named Kitho, whose storyline parallels Midhun and Anandhu’s, in a fiery way. The film struggles to integrate these two storylines, resulting in a disjointed narrative. While *Meesha* has some interesting plot points, it ultimately falls short of its ambitions. Kathir delivers a fresh performance as Midhun, but the female characters are inadequately developed. A bison is strangely the most prominent character as the hunters become the hunted. The overall effect is a film that feels incomplete and unclear in its message.
