Legal Dispute Over Sridevi’s Chennai Property: Boney Kapoor Challenges Claims in Madras High Court

A legal battle has emerged concerning a property in Chennai once owned by the late actress Sridevi, with producer Boney Kapoor taking legal action. Kapoor has filed a petition in the Madras High Court, disputing the claims of three individuals who are allegedly attempting to illegally occupy the property. Kapoor’s petition accuses the three individuals of fraudulent activities and details the history of the property. Sridevi purchased the property on April 19, 1988, from M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar. The property was part of a family agreement. Recently, three people started to claim ownership of the property. One woman claims to be the second wife of one of Mudaliar’s sons, and the other two are her sons. Kapoor argues that the woman’s marriage to Mudaliar’s son is invalid because his first wife died in 1999, long after their alleged marriage date in 1975. The petition also seeks to revoke legal heir certificates issued to the three individuals. Justice N. Anand Venkatesh has ordered the Tambaram Taluk Tahsildar to make a decision within four weeks. The property is located on East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and is currently used as a farmhouse by Sridevi’s family.
