Priyanshu Chhetri, an actor who appeared in the 2022 film ‘Jhund’ alongside Amitabh Bachchan, has allegedly been murdered in Nagpur. Known for portraying Babu Chhetri in the movie, Chhetri was found deceased on Wednesday. The primary suspect in the case is Dhruv Lal Bahadur Sahu, who has since been arrested. Investigations suggest the incident stemmed from a violent clash that occurred during a late-night drinking session between the two friends. According to preliminary reports, Chhetri and Sahu frequently drank together. The fatal confrontation allegedly took place at an abandoned property in the Jaripatka area. Sources indicate that an argument escalated, and Chhetri reportedly threatened Sahu before succumbing to sleep. Following this, Sahu is accused of restraining Chhetri with wires and inflicting fatal injuries with a sharp object. Police were alerted and quickly dispatched to the location. The Crime Detection Branch demonstrated efficiency, apprehending the accused, Sahu, within a six-hour timeframe. Authorities noted that Sahu has prior brushes with the law, with existing criminal cases against him. Information also emerged regarding Chhetri’s past, including a 2022 arrest related to the theft of significant cash and jewelry. A recent financial disagreement between Chhetri and Sahu had also been a point of contention, though previous disputes had been mediated by mutual acquaintances. ‘Jhund’ itself is a powerful narrative based on the real-life efforts of Vijay Barse to empower impoverished youth through football in Nagpur. Chhetri, who hailed from a humble background in Nagpur, played a supporting role in the film, bringing his local experience to the character of Babu Chhetri. His upbringing near the railway lines and his father’s daily wage work highlight his journey from adversity.
