Bollywood star Manisha Koirala has condemned the brutal response to the protests in Nepal, describing it as a “black day for the nation.” The protests, primarily fueled by Gen Z, are demanding justice, and government transparency. Koirala’s statement carries significant weight, resonating with the Nepali people. She shared a compelling image of a bloodied shoe accompanied by a strong message in Nepali, translated as: “Today is a black day for Nepal when bullets respond to the voice of the people, outrage against corruption and demand for justice.” The demonstrations, which began peacefully, turned violent when security forces opened fire on protestors, leading to a tragic loss of life and numerous injuries. The government has since decided to restore access to social media platforms, addressing some of the protesters’ demands.
