In a recent interview, Umesh Shukla addressed the controversy surrounding his film ‘OMG: Oh My God!’ and its perceived similarities to Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’. Shukla clarified that any thematic overlap stemmed from a shared creative vision, not from any sort of plagiarism. He firmly refuted the rumors that Vidhu Vinod Chopra had bribed him to delay the release of ‘OMG’. Shukla explained that his play was the genesis of the concept. The team behind ‘PK’ had seen Shukla’s play before the film’s release. Shukla stated that when two projects address a similar subject matter, echoes are bound to arise. He dismissed the rumors of foul play as baseless gossip, adding that the people involved were of great stature in the industry. ‘OMG’ starred Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar, while ‘PK’ presented a critique through the eyes of an alien, both of which captured the audience’s attention through bold storytelling.
