Ashish Kapoor, a television actor, has been arrested in Pune based on a rape accusation made by a woman. The woman claims the assault occurred during a party in Delhi the previous month. Initial reports indicated the two had met via Instagram. The woman initially accused multiple attackers, but later changed her statement to implicate only Kapoor. An FIR was lodged on August 11, with the charges amended from gang rape to rape. Authorities followed Kapoor’s movements from Delhi to Goa and then to Pune, where he was arrested. Reports suggest CCTV footage and witness testimonies place Kapoor and the complainant together in a washroom. The alleged victim has claimed the assault was recorded, but police have not found any video evidence.
