Bhatnagar’s ‘Soch’ reimagines Hitchcock’s ‘Strangers on a Train,’ but the film’s execution falls short. While it touches upon the themes of paparazzi intrusion and celebrity culture, these elements are overshadowed by a heavy reliance on commercial tropes. The incorporation of slapstick comedy and musical numbers disrupts the film’s suspenseful atmosphere. The narrative introduces Raj Matthews (Sanjay Kapoor), a superstar, and Preeti (Raveena Tandon), his director-choreographer, exploring their complicated relationship. The film’s exploration of the murder-swapping concept, driven by Arbaaz Khan’s performance, provides some of the film’s most compelling moments. Despite its flaws, the film attempts to offer a unique perspective on the lives of film stars, setting it apart from other releases of the time. Ultimately, ‘Soch’ struggles to fully realize its potential as a thriller and a commentary on celebrity life.
