The ‘Nayak’ Casting That Never Was: SRK and Aamir Khan’s Missed Opportunity

The film ‘Nayak: The Real Hero’ featured Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukerji, which was released 24 years ago. The film was originally offered to Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. Anil Kapoor shared that he felt he was destined to play the character. At the audio launch of ‘Nayak,’ Shah Rukh Khan expressed his support for the film. He mentioned that he made an effort to attend because of his close friendship with Anil Kapoor and his well wishes for Rani Mukerji. Director S. Shankar shared in an interview that the discussions with Aamir Khan did not progress well, and that Aamir was not impressed by the ‘Mudhalvan’ concept. Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, was occupied with the filming of ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’.
