At the 71st National Film Awards, recognizing excellence in Indian cinema for 2023, Treesha Thosar, the young star of the Marathi film ‘Naal 2,’ garnered significant attention. She received the prestigious Best Child Artist award, surpassing the star power of Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, Mohanlal, and Rani Mukerji, all of whom were also honored.
Thosar’s appearance in a white saree during the ceremony drew smiles from Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji, and cheers from the crowd.
In an Instagram post, Thosar expressed her feelings about the accomplishment. She stated, “I still don’t fully understand what I have achieved, but I do know this much—that through this award, the name of my Maharashtra state and my entire family has been elevated. And as my mother said, in the past 70 years of National Awards, I am the youngest child artist ever to receive this honor.”
She extended her thanks to her parents, her entire family, her film team, director Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti, and the jury. She also acknowledged her audience for their love and support.
‘Naal 2’ is directed by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti and produced by Nagraj Manjule in collaboration with Aatpat Production and Zee Studios. The prequel, ‘Naal,’ also earned a National Film Award in 2019. The film also features Shrinivas Pokale, Nagraj Manjule, Devika Daftardar, Deepti Devi and Jitendra Joshi.
