Frontline medical trainees in Madhya Pradesh are set for a pay raise, with the state government approving a revamped stipend framework for junior doctors. Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla confirmed the move Friday, applicable from April 1, 2025, in public medical colleges and hospitals.
The 2.94% uplift, benchmarked against the Consumer Price Index, acknowledges the multifaceted demands on these professionals. They undergo rigorous training while spearheading patient care, a testament to their resilience amid demanding schedules.
Overseeing the sectors, Shukla lauded their contributions: ‘Their dedication powers our health system’s strength.’ Prioritizing doctor welfare, the department has rolled out these enhancements to sustain morale and expertise.
Stipend specifics: First-year postgraduates at Rs 77,662 (was Rs 75,444); second-year Rs 80,050 (from Rs 77,764); third-year Rs 82,441 (up from Rs 80,086). Interns reach Rs 14,337. Super specialty across years: Rs 82,441.
Senior residents climb to Rs 90,803 from Rs 88,210; junior residents pegged at Rs 63,324. This follows JUDA-orchestrated demonstrations seeking action on a 2021 order. Shukla’s March 10 dialogue in Jabalpur quelled unrest effectively.
As Madhya Pradesh fortifies its medical cadre, this initiative promises ripple effects: motivated doctors delivering superior care. The state continues its trajectory toward a resilient, patient-centric health network.
