North India is enduring a severe heatwave, causing temperatures to surge to dangerous levels. The IMD has issued a Red Alert for Delhi for June 12, 2025, due to the extreme heat. Heatwave conditions are also predicted for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Jammu-Kashmir from June 12th to 14th. Public health officials are warning of an increase in heat-related illnesses. Himachal Pradesh and West & East Rajasthan are also expected to experience high temperatures. Furthermore, the Weather Department forecasts hot and humid weather in West Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. The region had a cooler May, but the lack of rainfall in early June has exacerbated the current heatwave.
