Manish Sisodia, a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has strongly condemned the BJP and Congress for the poor condition of India’s education system. He pointed out that while other countries are equipping their children for the future, India is struggling to provide basic education. Sisodia attributed the issue to the policies and neglect of the BJP and Congress governments. He emphasized the AAP’s initiatives to improve schools in areas where they have power and their commitment to making education a priority. He announced that AAP representatives from 20 states will send a team of volunteers to assess the state of government schools across the country. Sisodia criticized the Centre’s education policies, contrasting the government’s claims with the realities on the ground. He cited the Jhalawar incident, where children died due to a school roof collapse, as evidence of the government’s negligence. Sisodia argued that the deaths resulted from the government’s unwillingness to fund school repairs. He also emphasized that AAP believes that the Indian education system is a crumbling ruin and holds both the BJP and Congress responsible. He stated that according to UDISE data, most government schools lack computer labs, and a significant portion of children are unable to perform basic literacy and math skills. He noted that the central government has failed to meet the financial allocation targets set by the NEP and emphasized the importance of integrating AI into the curriculum. He compared India’s approach to education with countries like Japan and South Korea, which prioritize coding, robotics, and AI. He criticized the lack of teacher training and highlighted the poor conditions of many government schools. He declared that AAP would take action to address the issues. Sanjay Singh, another AAP leader, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the contrasting approaches of AAP and BJP. He pointed out that the BJP is often associated with controversy and violence, while AAP focuses on improving education and healthcare. Harjot Singh Bains, the Punjab Education Minister, shared the success of AAP in transforming education in Punjab, improving infrastructure, teacher training, and student outcomes. He criticized the failure of BJP-Congress governments to reform India’s education system.
