BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has accused Mamata Banerjee of using the ‘Bhasha Aandolan’ as a tactic to halt the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Adhikari claimed Banerjee’s actions are a ‘drama’. He alleged that she is protecting Bangladeshi Muslims, stating that her support base relies on infiltrators, Bangladeshis, and Rohingyas. This follows Banerjee’s denouncement of the ECI’s voter list revisions in Bihar and her warning against similar actions in West Bengal. The ECI has clarified that voter names won’t be removed without due process.
