As part of its annual commitment, the Indian Army launched ‘Operation SHIVA 2025’ to safeguard the Shri Amarnath Yatra. This year’s operation features intensified security protocols in response to increased threats from anti-Jammu and Kashmir terrorist groups backed by Pakistan. The core objective of Operation SHIVA 2025 is to collaborate with civil administration and CAPFs to provide comprehensive security along the Yatra’s routes. Deploying over 8,500 troops, the operation includes a counter-terrorism grid, preventive security deployments, and enhanced protection corridors. Key components include a dedicated C-UAS setup to counter drone threats and engineer task forces for infrastructure work. Medical support is substantial, with extensive medical facilities and personnel. The operation also includes provisions for emergency rations, quick reaction teams, and the deployment of necessary equipment. The Army uses sophisticated surveillance, including high-resolution cameras and drone feeds, to monitor convoy movements, thereby ensuring a safe and spiritual journey for the pilgrims.
